What's New in Imaris 9.2

As imaging technology improves to capture entire specimens at higher resolution over long timescales, biologists are generating larger and longer static and time-lapse images. Imaris 9.2 responds with the ability to identify and analyze millions of cells, nuclei and vesicles within these Big Data images.

This latest version brings a further Big Data revolution, enabling the interactive rendering and analysis of millions of Spots. In addition, new editing tools and visualization features for both Spots and Tracks improve the entire analysis workflow saving you valuable time!

Fast Spots Technology

Imaris 9.2 Fast Spots Technology is possible due to the performance improvement of multiple components which make Spots calculation and rendering much faster and able to handle data much larger than before while using conventional hardware:

  • Smart GPU usage enables fast Spots and Track Rendering
  • Spots Computation runs blockwise and multithreaded, uses system resources efficiently and avoids paging of data to files
  • All Tracking algorithms are faster as the linear assignment solver has been improved for both speed and to accommodate large time-lapses.
  • Interacting with spots and track Statistics is now instantaneous.

Multi–selection of Spots and Surfaces

With Imaris 9.2 it is now possible to select multiple spots with a single mouse click. Simply enable 'Multiselection' in either box, or 'Circle' mode within the Spots and Surfaces edit tab.

Track Editor

Using a new Focus Tracks mode in the Track Editor you can now display only a small number of tracks, based on their proximity to a selected track. You can also now more easily connect tracks and multiple objects.

Labels for Tracks

In Imaris 9.2 Labels (color and name) can be assigned to tracks. Thereby when track statistics are exported they are named with the given Labels. All other Imaris models (Surfaces, Filaments, and Cells) can use Labels.

Dragon Tails

In Imaris 9.2 Tracks can be visualized as Dragon Tails showing previous steps or future steps (or both!) for the track. The new flexibility allows for tracks to grow for the entire length of a time-lapse.
